Throughout the second quarter of 2022, the top Film & Television apps on iOS in Africa demonstrated diverse trends in terms of weekly downloads, revenue, and active users. Here's a closer look at the performance of Netflix, Shahid - ﺷﺎﻫﺪ, Disney+, Showmax, and DStv Stream.

Netflix saw a steady increase in weekly revenue, peaking at around $33.6K in the final week of April. Weekly downloads experienced a notable rise in early May, reaching approximately 42.5K. The app also maintained a robust active user base, which surged from 671K to 712K by the end of June.

Shahid - ﺷﺎﻫﺪ experienced fluctuations in weekly revenue, starting at $32.9K at the end of March and closing the quarter at around $15.1K. Weekly downloads saw a significant spike in early April, hitting 78.4K, but later decreased to around 5.8K by the end of June. Weekly active users mirrored this trend, rising to 74.7K in early April before settling at 30.4K by the quarter's end.

Disney+ showed a remarkable increase in weekly revenue, peaking at approximately $54.3K in early June. Weekly downloads followed a similar pattern, with the highest count of 60.4K in the same week. The app's active user base saw growth, reaching around 81.4K in mid-June before tapering off to 65.7K by the end of the month.

DStv Stream had a stable performance in weekly downloads, ranging from 5.4K to 10.5K. The app's active user base stayed strong, averaging around 160K throughout the quarter, with a slight dip to 148K in mid-June.
